Rural Lift provides affordable, accessible transport to alleviate the social exclusion faced by people due to lack of public transport or being unable to access a car. Rural Lift has 5 minibuses.

Vision:

  • We have a vision of Out and About supporting it’s community activities in the future with a majority of self-generated income, alongside a certain level of government income.

Mission Statement:

  • ‘Out and About promotes social inclusion through the development of a Community Transport Scheme for disadvantaged individuals, community groups and voluntary groups within the Mid-Ulster area.’

Aims & Objectives of your organisation:

  • Aim is to provide affordable and accessible transport to disadvantaged individuals and groups within the Magherafelt District Council area.

Objectives:

  1. Minibus for hire scheme
  2. Voluntary Car Scheme
  3. Subsidised Taxi-scheme
  4. Training agent: Midas and Pats training

Outline of success to date:

  • 400 registered individual members
  • 110 registered group members
  • 4000 minibus trips Nov 2006
  • 130 social car trips Nov 2006
  • 300 subsidised taxi trips Nov 2006
  • 200 registered MIDAS drivers

Easilift was established in 2001 to provide affordable accessible transport throughout the Strabane District Council area.

Vision
To reduce isolation and social exclusion experienced by those living in rural areas of Strabane District by providing affordable, accessible transport.

Aims & Objectives

* To improve transport provision in rural parts of the District with the highest levels of deprivation
* To improve transport provision for young people, unemployed, women in the home, the elderly and those with disabilities.

DEC rent out 20,000 sqft of incubator space. There are a range of training programmes available to meet the needs of the community. DEC provide business support to start-up businesses.
