Networking & Sustainability in the Third Sector Conference

Workshops

In addition to the keynote presenters the RISE Conference has scheduled the following 5 parallel one hour facilitated workshops:

  • Community Support Programme and Social Enterprise Development (lead by Alan Curtis & Kevin Moran of Pobal)
    • This workshop will look at the role of the Community Services Programme in the Republic of Ireland and its importance in developing a sustainable social infrastructure through community and social enterprise development. Delegates will be provided with an opportunity to hear about recent developments in the roll out of the CSP as well as future developments.

  • Sustainable Funding for Third Sector Organisations (lead by Seamus Carlin of the IMMPACT Initiative & Graham Collins of National Council for Voluntary Organisations Sustainable Funding Project)
    • This workshop will follow on from the keynote address by Graham and will look at the sustainable funding agenda drawing lesson from its implementation through the IMMPACT initiative in Northern Ireland. Delegates will be afforded the opportunity to review the learning resource materials used in the sustainable funding programme and how to apply these in a work setting.

  • Social Finance for Business Growth (lead by Jennifer Hennessey & Paul O’Sullivan of Clann Credo)
    • This workshop will look at the emergence of social/loan finance as a resource for social enterprise growth. It will look at the multiple uses of loan finance and its increasing importance to Third Sector organisations as part of a diverse package of finance resources. Delegates will also learn about the work of the social finance foundation and its role in social infrastructure development.

  • Social Outcomes Measurement: (lead by Maurice McNicholl and Patrick McManus of Social Economy Agency)
    • This workshop will look at how Third Sector organisation can ‘Prove and Improve’ how their development work relates to their vision and mission. Delegates will consider various approaches for successfully managing project outcomes; satisfying organisational and funder needs. Delegates will also be provided with information and resources that can be applied in a work setting.

  • Rural Social Development: Networking for inclusion (lead by Gwen Lannigan of North South Rural Voice and James Money-Kyrle of The Plunkett Foundation)
    • This workshop will look at the importance of rural social networks in assisting and successfully driving forward a rural development agenda. Delegates will hear about the challenges that the border presents and consider what policy makers need to factor into sustainable development strategies for rural communities.
